Cross Country

 

The boys and girls WESM Cross Country team is experiencing a resurgence in regards to both participation and competitiveness. With a large number of dedicated student-athletes on the team this year, the bar has been set high for future WESM Cross Country teams to try to match and surpass. The team consistently made large strides in improvement throughout the 2012 season. Numerous personal records were set by many of our runners. This success and strong overall work ethic will no doubt be exhibited by the teams in the coming years.

 

HEAD COACH, KURT GOETZ

 

Currently in sixth year as a Social Sciences teacher at WESM, and eleventh year in LAUSD. Fourth year Cross Country coach. He ran 4 years of cross country and track in high school in Iowa. Varsity letter-winner all 4 years. Ran 2 years of cross country and track in college, at Iowa State University. Has completed 16 marathons, 22 half-marathons, as well as countless other road races. Qualified for the Boston Marathon 3 years in a row.
